A miniature circuit breaker (MCB) is a compact electrical protection device designed to automatically switch off the circuit when it detects an overload or short circuit. Among the most common type of circuit breakers in residential and light commercial applications, MCBs typically handle current ratings up to 125A. Unlike fuses, these circuit breakers can be easily reset after tripping, making them a convenient and cost-effective solution. MCBs use thermal-magnetic trip mechanisms — a bimetallic strip responds to sustained overloads while an electromagnetic solenoid reacts instantly to short circuit currents.
